Kelmont Park Alpacas was established in 2007 on 74 acres bordering the Yass River between Murrumbateman and Gundaroo, NSW. From the outset we tailored our farm to suit alpacas. The pastures have been improved by regenerating the soils with organic fertilisers and sowing rye grass, phalaris, cocksfoot and clover. With the abundance of water and lush river flats, we are able to have year round pasture for the alpacas to enjoy.
We have planted over 6000 trees around the paddock boundaries to act as wind breaks and shelter belts for the animals. The paddocks have been divided into smaller areas with a lane way system to all paddocks and up to the main husbandry area, which is made up of three sheds with several catch pens and work areas.
Currently the Kelmont Park herd is comprised of over 70 animals, including 3 certified stud males. Our aim is to breed predominantly white superfine alpacas with a small number of coloured animals. Our first cria born at Kelmont Park Alpacas went on to win Champion Intermediate Female at Boorowa Show (2009), and many more amazing cria have been born since. We invite you to inspect our stud sires and their progeny.
We also welcome the opportunity to pass our knowledge and friendship to other new breeders and farmers.
